Thanks To All For a Wonderful Bedford Hills Centennial Celebration!
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Bedford Hills
Historical Museum and the Bedford Hills Centennial Committee, we would like to
thank the entire Bedford Hills community for taking part in this past weekend's
Centennial Celebration.The
weather was perfect, and it was wonderful to see so many Bedford Hills
residents, neighbors and friends come out to celebrate the unique history and
identity of our very special hamlet!
The weekend's events took us back to the days before 1910
when the hamlet was known as Bedford Station. The Museum's Then & Now
exhibit, which opened with a Friday night reception, presents images of our
past juxtaposed with current photographs. And, on Saturday, Depot Plaza once
again became known Bedford Station, as we were entertained by singers, dancers
and the Antioch Baptist Church Chancel Choir. The kids participated in a
Centennial Scavenger Hunt. Adults took in the Historical Walking Tour. And all were
invited to partake of pie following the Pie-Baking Contest.
A number of Bedford Hills organizations, businesses and
individuals worked together over many months to create a memorable couple of
days for those of all ages! The
Bedford Hills Neighborhood Association, Bedford Hills Historical Museum, Town
of Bedford, Bedford Hills Lions Club, Bedford Hills Fire Department, Bedford
Hills Free Library, and the Bedford Hills Chamber of Commerce are but a few of
the entities that worked together to ensure the weekend's success.
The Committee also would like to thank our many sponsors,
all of whom made it possible for all Centennial events to be open to the public
and free of charge. Special recognition is given to our Station Master
sponsors: The Bedford Hills Nursery, Bedford Stone & Masonry Supply,
Diamond Properties, Lloyd Bedford Cox Insurance, Mount Kisco Honda, and Robert
M. Spano Plumbing & Heating.
For those of you who missed some or all of the weekend's
events, be sure to look for a copy of the Bedford Hills Historical Museum's
self-guided Bedford Hills: A Walking Tour of the Historic Hamlet, now available
in the Town of Bedford offices and in numerous locations around town, and to
visit the Museum to view our many exhibits, including Then & Now, as well
as drawings of Depot Plaza created by Bedford Hills Elementary School
students.The Museum is located in
the lower level of the Bedford Town House and is open Thursdays and Saturdays
from 11am - 2pm, or by appointment. You can also purchase the amazing "Bedford Hills 100" Posters designed by Dan Cohen Designs at the Museum as well as the Town Clerk's office, The Paint Box, and soon to be available at D's Variety in downtown Bedford Hills.

Sincerely,
